Our "No Outsiders" fringe meeting at the Bournemouth Conference was packed out, with many people having to be turned away.

The event, on Monday 16th September, discussed efforts by religious campaigners to prevent schools from teaching children about LGBT+ families and relationships.

The highly impressive speakers were

  • Imtiaz Shams, co-founder of the group Faith to Faithless, which raises awareness of apostacy and supports people who have left the religions of the communities in which they have been brought up, including ex-evangelical Christians, ex-Ultra-Orthodox Jews, ex-Muslims and ex-Jehovah's Witnesses.
  • Ruth Wareham, Education Campaigns Manager at Humanists UK.

The meeting was chaired by Adrian Hyyrylainen-Trett.
