HSLD conference 20th November

16 Oct 2010

Humanist & Secularist Liberal Democrats are holding a one day conference on Saturday 20th November at The Directory for Social Change close to Euston Station in London.

The theme of the conference is Faith & the Challenges of the Coalition. We will have much to discuss, with legislation to extend academies and introduce free schools already passed, the government now plans changes to curriculum legislation. What chance is there for the removal of compulsory religious worship in schools?

Meanwhile reform of the House of Lords provides new opportunities for us to campaign for the removal of reserved places in the Lords for Church of England bishops. But what are the implications of the Big Society to religious influence in the delivery of public services?

The role of the Humanist & Secularists in the Lib Dems grows as our membership continues to grow. The day will include our AGM, and an opportunity to discuss our activities in the party, our influence on the coalition and in the wider humanist & secularist movement.

Registration is free to all fully paid up members of HSLD, £10 to non members. Annual membership only costs £10. Tea, coffee and a good buffet lunch is also available for £10.
